Understanding how infrastructure deployment is done in the cloud is crucial for building solutions that meet customer needs. This blog offers a basic understanding of how users utilize the cloud to create their solutions and expand their businesses.

The Deployment Models of the Cloud

1. PRIVATE CLOUD

   Cloud services are restricted to a single organization and are not available to the public. This gives the organization complete control and security over its sensitive data. In a private cloud, all resources are isolated and controlled by one organization. Therefore, the private cloud is also called the internal or corporate cloud. It is important to note that the benefits of a private cloud infrastructure depend on its implementation method.

   Example: AWS, Cisco, Dell, HPE, etc

2. PUBLIC CLOUD

   A third-party cloud service provider manages the underlying computing resources. The provider is responsible for maintaining these resources. Users only use resources as per their needs. Note that in this type of model, the hardware and servers are shared across multiple users but the data is protected and security is a shared responsibility.

   Examples: Azure by Microsoft, AWS by Amazon, and GCP by Google.

3. HYBRID CLOUD

   A hybrid cloud is an IT infrastructure design that seamlessly integrates a company's public and private clouds. It provides users with control over sensitive data by storing it in a private cloud, along with the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of the public cloud. A hybrid cloud extends your private cloud computing model into a public cloud model.

   The following are some differences between various deployment models :

When to use a private cloud model?

It is best suited for:

• Sensitive data.

• Companies that require strong control over their infrastructure and security over their IT workloads.

• Companies with compliance requirements and BYOL licenses.

• Companies with high investment and data centres with advanced technologies

When to use a public cloud model?

It is best suited for:

• Software development and test environments.

• Companies looking for cost-effective solutions.

• Projects with highly scalable solutions.

When to use a hybrid cloud model?

It is best suited for:

• When a company wants to protect its sensitive data but wants its applications to be agile and highly scalable.

• Optimizing investment without compromising the benefits of both private and public clouds.

• When strategically needed switch between both models for real-time business profits.
